Sat|urn «SAT uhrn», noun.
1. the ancient Roman god of agriculture and the harvest. The Greeks called him Cronus. Saturn was believed to have ruled durg a golden age and to have been deposed by his son Jupiter.
2. the second largest planet in the solar system, and the sixth in distance from the sun. Its orbit lies between those of Jupiter and Uranus and takes 29.46 years to complete, at a mean distance from the sun of 887,500,000 miles. Saturn is encircled by a system of three rings made up of tiny particles of matter. »
